Let There Be Light!

** Thank you Botkins Local School and the Village of Botkins for your support of this project!!

August 2019:

Lights are up and working! THANK YOU to all of the volunteers and donors for their help making this project a reality. Our first game under the lights will be on August 11 at 7:30 when the BSC Men’s Alumni take on the 2019 Varsity Boys team. We look forward to seeing you there!

Donations are still being accepted to finish paying our last bills. We would really appreciate any help you can give!

September 2018:

As you can see, we have the concrete poles delivered and ready for installation.  Recently volunteers moved the poles into position.  They currently await attachment of the light cross arms.  Once that is done the poles will be set in place.  We’ve still need money to finalize the pole installation.  Then we also need to raise the money needed to attach the lights next summer.  We would really appreciate any support you can give us!

Donations can be mailed to BSC, 10530 Botkins Road, Botkins, OH 45306

December 2017:

The Botkins Soccer club is now running a “LET THERE BE LIGHT” campaign to help fund for the construction of lights at the high school soccer field at Botkins Park.  This will not only allow our children a great experience while in high school, but will also add to the value of the overall community and school pride.

As you can imagine this is a large task being undertaken by the club, but we feel it is something that is important in establishing our soccer programs in our area and the southwest district.  It will allow us to push start times back from 5pm to a later time which will allow more people to attend the high school matches.  The lights will allow us to play multiple games on one night.  We will also not need to worry about having enough sunlight to finish games as the fall season continues especially during tournament play when we host OHSAA playoff tournament games.

The project will consist of 4-poles with 16 lights (64 total) located on School property.
• The anticipated cost for the entire project is $100,000
• The lights are 1500 watt “Stadium Lighter” with 3000 hr. avg. bulb life
• Each 2.5 hrs. event would approximately cost $47.50 (@ $0.12 kWh)
• Project is split into 2 phases
o Phase 1: Utilities
o Phase 2: Lights, poles, installation (approximately $70,000)

Phase 1: Utilities
Botkins Local Schools has generously agreed to facilitate this portion of the project. Future school improvements at the Soccer & Track complete will include a concession stand, restrooms, lights, and parking. They will take those needs in mind when upgrading the utilities at the site. Anticipated power requirements are anticipated to be installed by the fall of 2019.

Phase 2: Lights, poles, and installation • This will include:
o 64 – 1500W (1632W) lights require 104,448 Watts or 150kVA transformer (purchased)
o 4 – 70’ poles (quoted and getting ready for purchase)
o 3 – Cross arms 6-6-4 configuration
o Indoor or Outdoor distribution panel
o Manual Control
o Anticipated installation the summer of 2018

Fundraising:
Today BSC has raised over half of what is needed for Phase 2. But we need more help! Any donation you can make would be truly appreciated. We have over 175 players involved in the Botkins Soccer program – from U6 to high school. If each family can give $100, we will be on our way to completing this project!

• Donors giving at least at the Bronze level will be listed on signage to be displayed at the soccer field

o Platinum $5,000
o Gold $1,000
o Silver $500
o Bronze $100

• Donations can be mailed to BSC, 10530 Botkins Road, Botkins, OH 45306
